Surely one of the most important root words in the NT is pisteo “to believe” or express “faith.” Below are all the 609 occurrences of pisteo where it appears in whatever form, with the expanded portions for the positive aspects of “faith.”
Of special significance, note how many of the occurrences are in the “Pastoral Epistles” (I and II Timothy, Titus, and Philemon) where the Apostle Paul is charge with the critical task of passing on “The Faith” to the next generation of followers of Christ. Without that occurring, and occurring faithful to the Scriptures, that Faith would have experienced an early death as typical of human sects / movements. But part of the work of the Holy Spirit is to make such Faith clear and alive in each succeeding generation, as He has done for 2,000 years.
